5 Movement Training Exercises to Increase Hip Flexibility before thanksgiving
Having flexible hips is important because it helps you move better and do activities like running, jumping, and even sitting comfortably. Here are 5 fun and easy exercises to make your hips more flexible!
1. **Butterfly Stretch**: Sit on the floor with your feet touching each other. Let your knees fall to the sides like butterfly wings. Hold your feet and gently push your knees towards the floor. This stretch helps your hips open up and become more flexible.
2. **Hip Circles**: Stand up straight and put your hands on your hips. Move your hips in big circles, like you’re drawing a circle in the air with your hips. Do this a few times in one direction, then switch and do it the other way. This exercise loosens up your hips and gets them ready for movement.
3. **Lunges**: Step one foot forward and bend your knees to lower your body, like you’re kneeling. Keep your back leg straight and push your hips forward gently. This stretch helps your hip flexors, the muscles at the front of your hips, to stretch and become more flexible.
4. **Pigeon Pose**: Get on your hands and knees, then bring one knee forward and place it on the ground in front of you. Stretch your other leg straight back. Lower your hips towards the floor. This pose is great for opening up your hips and stretching the muscles.
5. **Frog Stretch**: Start on your hands and knees, then move your knees out to the sides as far as they’ll go. Keep your feet on the ground and try to lower your hips. This stretch really helps to open up your hips and make them more flexible.
Doing these exercises regularly will help your hips move better, making it easier and more fun to do all kinds of activities!
